Kalmar to supply low-emission terminal tractors for fleet renewal at Onorato Amatori's Livorno and Catania terminals

CARGOTEC CORPORATION, TRADE PRESS RELEASE, 16 FEBRUARY 2018 AT 10.00 (EET)

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, is to supply a total of nine terminal tractors to leading Italian shipping operator Onorato Armatori Group. The order was booked in Cargotec's 2018 first quarter order intake and delivery is scheduled to take place during the second quarter of 2018.

The Onorato Armatori Group is a leading European provider of passenger and freight maritime transportation and the parent company of the Moby, Tirrenia-CIN and Toremar and Moby SPL shipping lines. The group employs close up to 4,750 people and has operations in Italy, France and Malta. The new terminal tractors will be used to load and unload wheeled cargo from roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) vessels. Seven of the machines will operate at the company's Livorno Terminal Marittimo (LTM) and two at the CPS terminal in Catania. Kalmar's local team of skilled service engineers already supports Onorato Armatori with equipment maintenance services at both locations.

Matteo Savelli, Ltm CEO: "Kalmar was the natural choice for us when renewing our terminal tractor fleet because of the excellent working relationship we have built up over many years of partnership. We already operate machines at our terminals, and we have been extremely satisfied with the service support provided by their skilled local team."

Marco Tosi, Market Area Director, Kalmar Italy: "Ro-ro operations place extremely high demands on equipment, and our industry-leading terminal tractors have a proven track record of reliable performance at terminals around the world. Our relationship with Onorato Armatori has gone from strength to strength, and we are delighted that they have chosen Kalmar to support them with the renewal of their terminal tractor fleet."

Kalmar's pioneering heavy-duty TR618i terminal tractors are designed specifically to meet the tough demands of ro-ro operations, where fast and efficient ship turnarounds are critical to maintaining profitability. They boast outstanding durability, visibility and operator comfort to ensure excellent performance when moving heavy loads in harsh port conditions. Furthermore, state-of-the-art engine technology helps to minimise atmospheric emissions, while the machines also include a number of safety-related features developed in close collaboration with customers.
